Bospar Named Finalist in 6th Annual Anthem Awards for LGBTQ+ Visibility Campaign

“Love Is the Goal” campaign for the Alwan Foundation recognized in two Belonging & Inclusion categories for turning the 2026 FIFA World Cup into a global platform for LGBTQ+ advocacy

SAN FRANCISCO — October 13, 2026 — Bospar, the “politely pushy” PR and marketing agency that puts tech and health companies on the map, today announced it has been named a finalist in the 6th Annual Anthem Awards for its Love Is the Goal: Turning the World Cup Into a Global Stage for LGBTQ+ Visibility campaign with Dr. Nasser Mohamed.

The campaign was recognized in two Belonging & Inclusion categories: Purpose-Driven Program or Initiative and LGBTQ+ Advocacy & Support.

The Anthem Awards recognize excellence in social impact work across purpose-driven organizations, brands and initiatives. This year’s finalists include organizations such as Audible, Cisco, EY, NASCAR and Verizon. Winners are selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, whose judges include leaders in social impact, business, advocacy and the creative industries.

Love Is the Goal campaign

“Love Is the Goal” centered on Dr. Nasser Mohamed (Dr. Nas), the first openly gay Qatari doctor and founder of the Alwan Foundation, which supports LGBTQ+ people across the Gulf. After fleeing persecution in Qatar, Dr. Nas rebuilt his life in San Francisco. In partnership with Bospar, he turned a 2026 FIFA World Cup match in his adopted hometown into an opportunity to challenge the criminalization of same-sex relationships and bring visibility to LGBTQ+ people who often cannot safely speak out.

On June 13, Dr. Nas made a surprise appearance at the stadium wearing a custom Qatari bisht trimmed in rainbow piping. Joined by California State Sen. Scott Wiener, he delivered a message that transcended borders: “Love is not a crime.” Bospar supported the moment with targeted media outreach across LGBTQ+, sports, political, fashion and local news, alongside a three-week Instagram series that built anticipation ahead of match day.

The campaign generated 240 pieces of coverage, including 108 Associated Press syndications, representing $1.03 billion in combined UVM. A video of Dr. Nas entering the stadium garnered 12 million views, and the campaign prompted a World Cup host committee representative to apologize on the OutSports podcast for excluding Dr. Nas from LGBTQ+ planning. Beyond the media results, Gulf nationals privately reached out to thank him for speaking on behalf of people who could not safely share their own stories.

“While a campaign can’t change laws overnight, it can change who gets seen, who gets heard and who feels less alone,” said Curtis Sparrer, Bospar co-founder and CEO. “Dr. Nas showed the world that people shouldn’t have to choose between their cultural heritage and their identity. We’re proud that this work is being recognized, and even prouder of the people who found courage and connection through it.”

Finalists for the 6th Annual Anthem Awards are eligible for Gold, Silver and Bronze honors. The awards also launched Anthem Community Voice in partnership with NationBuilder, an annual public voting campaign celebrating finalist work. Supporters can recognize the campaign online from October 13 through October 29 at celebrate.anthemawards.com. Winners will be announced November 5, 2026.
