Bospar Principal Curtis Sparrer Named President of San Francisco Press Club

SAN FRANCISCO – November 23, 2020 – Bospar, the boutique PR firm that puts tech companies on the map, is proud to announce that agency co-founder Curtis Sparrer has been selected as president of the San Francisco Press Club. Sparrer’s term of office will begin January 1st, 2021.

“Curtis has been a great addition to our board and I am anticipating his leadership will really help the Press Club grow,” said outgoing San Francisco Press Club president J. Ennis Kirkland.

A non-profit professional journalism organization, the San Francisco Press Club consists of editors, photographers, producers, reporters and other media professionals. Its mission is to encourage excellence in journalism by providing grants, recognition, scholarships and training to professionals and students in the Greater Bay Area. That mission is driven by members’ belief in the First Amendment, integrity in reporting and the essential role of journalism in a democracy.

“The Press Club’s mission is even more relevant in the current landscape,” said Sparrer. “It’s an honor to be named president, and I am delighted to be working alongside these dedicated professionals as we advance the cause of journalism.”

Sparrer is a well-known and respected presence in the industry, with more than 20 years of media and PR experience. An Emmy-winning executive producer, he collaborates daily with Bospar clients and the media to educate the public and investment community on key business, cultural, legislative, regulatory, and technology developments and trends.

Sparrer is also a prolific writer, penning articles about PR best practices for Entrepreneur, Forbes, PRWeek and O’Dwyer, among others. He has been a guest speaker for Meltwater, the Bulldog Reporter and San Francisco’s Ohlone College.  He is a lifetime member of the National Lesbian Gay Journalists Association and a member of StartOut, an LGBTQ entrepreneurial organization.

In addition to this most recent honor, Sparrer was awarded Professional of the Year by the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and named to the 2020 PRovoke Innovator 25 list. Bospar has been selected to Forbes’ list of America’s Best PR Agencies 2020 and PRNews inaugural Agency Elite Top 100; earned four MarCom Awards, including three platinum; named a PR World Award Grand winner; and honored with a PRovoke’s 2020 North America Boutique Agency of the Year Award, a Gold 2020 MUSE Creative Award and two Innovation SABRE awards. In its most recent ranking, the San Francisco Business Times named Bospar as the eighth largest Bay Area LGBT-owned business.
