Bospar principal Curtis Sparrer wins grand prize, PR Star of 2018
SAN FRANCISCO—November 28, 2018—Bospar, the boutique PR firm that puts tech companies on the map, today announced that co-founder and principal Curtis Sparrer has been named PR Star of 2018 — the top prize in the Bulldog Reporter’s 2018 Stars of PR Awards.
The Bulldog Reporter recognized Bospar for the business results their PR programs drove for their B2B and B2C technology-focused clients. Over the course of the year, Bospar helped its clients realize category leadership in artificial intelligence, banking, data storage, DevOps, digital experience management, FinTech, infrastructure, sales enablment, sleep tech, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
One example is provided by Bospar client and Unisys Chief Marketing Officer Ann Ruckstuhl, who commented on the PR results Bospar secured for the company’s 2018 Security Index. “Bospar secured record-breaking broadcast coverage, generating 100+ TV segments in the first 72 hours. Additionally, the team coached and prepped our executive in advance of a national interview, setting expectations and providing counsel on key messaging. Bospar’s performance and the resulting interest helped strengthen Unisys’ leadership in the security marketplace.”
In total, the company and its principal were recognized in nine categories. For Bospar, this included:
- Best Boutique Agency — Gold
- Most Innovative Agency — Gold
- B2B Agency of the Year — Silver
- B2C Agency of the Year — Bronze
And for Sparrer:
- PR Star of 2018 — Grand Prize
- Leader of the Year — Gold
- Media Relations Professional of the Year — Gold
- Public Relations Professional of the Year — Silver
- PR Professional Who Makes a Difference — Silver
“I’d like to thank the academy,” Sparrer joked, wondering who would read this self-congratulatory release. “In all seriousness, this has been an amazing year for Bospar. Our boutique agency has secured over 4,500 earned placements for our clients and has continued to grow. Meanwhile, my colleague Chris Boehlke was included in the Innovator 25 list by the Holmes Report. And if I did not have support from my colleagues Tom Carpenter and Tricia Heinrich, I would never have been able to work with stars like George Takei or companies like Snowflake Computing. I am truly lucky and blessed — and need to do whatever it takes to ensure I don’t get a big head!”
“Oh myyyy,” said Takei. “Bospar made launching ‘House of Cats’ a fantastic experience. We loved talking about our new app to reporters at Cheddar, CNET, Entertainment Tonight, Fox News, NBC, PRWeek, TechCrunch, TMZ, and VentureBeat.”
