SAN FRANCISCO – November 3, 2021 – Bospar, the “Politely Pushy®” PR firm that puts tech companies on the map, today announced that for a second consecutive year, the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSASF) has named Bospar Cofounder Curtis Sparrer as Professional of the Year.
PRSA also named Bospar the Small Agency of the Year, a category reserved for outstanding PR agencies with fewer than 20 employees based in a Bay Area office. The awards, known as “The Foggies,” recognize “the San Francisco Bay Area’s best public relations programs and the brightest professionals who bring them to life,” according to PRSA’s website. PRSA presented the awards during an in-person ceremony in San Francisco last week, the first live award event hosted by the organization since early 2020.
The award won by Sparrer, who helped found Bospar, the all-virtual PR agency in 2015, “honors the accomplishments of one exceptional public relations professional and recognizes the professional achievements and activities that have advanced the profession and the practice of public relations.”
“My feelings are careening across the spectrum: I’m thrilled, humbled, grateful, and hopeful,” Sparrer said. “I’m humbled and grateful that PRSA has recognized our efforts the past year. I’m thrilled and hopeful with our growth and the prospects for our future. Thank you, PRSA.”
During 2021, Bospar and Sparrer took important leadership roles. In September, Sparrer and Bospar helped bring attention to a near total ban on abortion in Texas by offering to pay moving expenses for any Texas-based Bospar employee who wished to move out of the state. Bospar’s program drew national media attention, and leading companies, such as Salesforce, followed the agency’s lead by offering similar relocation plans to workers.
In addition, Bospar has won numerous awards during the past year. In September, Ragan Communications honored the agency with a Ragan Media Relations Award. Inc. Magazine also included Bospar in the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States, and PRovoke Media named the agency the winner of the Northern American SABRE award in the category of e-commerce. The agency was also named a PRovoke SABRE four-award recipient and received the title of Best in Corporate Branding for client Prodoscore during the PRWeek 2021 Awards. In its most recent ranking, the San Francisco Business Times named Bospar as the seventh-largest Bay Area LGBT-owned business.
“Our annual awards are very special to our chapter, and to me, as we believe in the importance of recognition for the great work and great people in the greater San Francisco PR community” said Katina Tinka Bush, PRSA-SF Awards Director. “Congratulations to Curtis and the Bospar team on receiving awards this year and to all the winners of the 2021 Foggies Awards.”
