What Makes Bospar Special

May 22, 2025

As Bospar celebrates its 10th anniversary, we turned to two of the people who’ve been with the agency nearly since the beginning: Stacey, vice president and Brent, vice president, media relations. Both with nearly nine years at Bospar, they’ve helped shape the company’s culture, seen its evolution firsthand and played a direct role in many of the agency’s most defining moments. We sat down with them to talk about what brought them to Bospar and what’s made them stay.

You’ve been with Bospar almost since the beginning. What drew you in?

Stacey: I’d worked in a lot of newsrooms, where people love to say, “we’re like a family,” but Bospar was the first place where that actually felt true. We supported one another, we knew each other beyond just our titles and there was this exciting sense that we were building something meaningful together. That was incredibly compelling.

Brent: For me, it was two things. First, I already knew and respected Chris Boehlke and Curtis Sparrer from a previous role where they were my agency partners, so I trusted them. Second, I’d never worked at an agency before and the idea of expanding my PR skills while learning about a wide range of industries, especially tech, really appealed to me. Plus, I loved the flexibility of remote work, which was still pretty novel back then!

What has kept you at Bospar all these years?

Stacey: It’s honestly been fulfilling to grow alongside Bospar. When you join early, you get to shape the culture and direction of the agency, and that’s not something I take for granted. It feels like raising a family. You’re proud of how far it’s come.

Brent: I’ve worked in a number of industries, but PR felt like the right fit for the long haul. Bospar gave me the opportunity to truly deepen my skills and, equally important, to pass those skills on. Mentoring has become one of the most rewarding parts of my role. I’ve seen colleagues rise through the ranks, take on leadership and find their voices. Being part of that process, knowing I helped someone get there, is incredibly meaningful. It’s the kind of professional fulfillment you can’t manufacture and it’s a big reason I stay.

If you had to name one or two things Bospar just gets right, what would they be?

Stacey: We recognize individual strengths and put them to use. I’ve been able to bring in past experience, like media training and recruitment, and apply it in ways that matter. Also, Bospar embraces individuality. There’s no pressure to conform; diversity of perspective is just part of who we are. That means more than just background or identity, it’s about thinking styles, career paths and personality types. People are encouraged to show up as their full selves and that authenticity makes our work sharper and our teams stronger.

Brent: From a practical standpoint, the benefits and compensation are extremely competitive. But culturally, what I love is that you often get to choose what you work on. People are encouraged to raise their hands for projects that excite them and leadership makes space for that to happen, giving you room to explore and grow.

What about the day-to-day culture?

Stacey: We work very hard here at Bospar, but we also have a good time., My husband often comments on how often I laugh at work.  While he may find it distracting when he’s working from home, he’s right! We really do. There’s something special about working somewhere that makes you laugh every day.

Brent: We’re a communications agency and it shows. Our Slack channels are constant streams of ideas, celebrations, support and sometimes overcommunication. But that’s part of what makes it work. We’ve built camaraderie in a fully remote model and it strengthens both our culture and our communication skills. We don’t just work together, we know each other. We celebrate birthdays, share pet photos, swap jokes. It sounds small, but those touchpoints make the work feel more human.

How would you describe Bospar’s team dynamics?

Stacey: It’s the opposite of cutthroat. I came from broadcast news, where you’re often elbowing colleagues for your next move. At Bospar, people lift each other up. If you ask for help, someone will always jump in.

Brent: I agree! Everyone here understands that great work happens as a team. You see that especially when we’re pitching in to help someone meet a deadline or navigating a complex client moment together. There’s a shared sense of responsibility and generosity that makes a huge difference.

Is there a project or campaign that really reflects Bospar’s values?

Brent: For me, it’s less about one specific campaign and more about how we celebrate our work. When a team wins an award, they’re celebrated publicly, often with a plane ticket to accept the award in person. We shine a spotlight on those wins in Slack, in our newsletters and in meetings. And what’s powerful is how those celebrations extend beyond individuals. It’s not “Person X won an award,” rather it’s “we did this together.” That spirit of shared pride runs deep.

Stacey: I completely agree. That kind of recognition isn’t just a morale booster, it’s a reflection of our values. We work hard, we deliver great results and we make sure to pause and honor what that means.

Bospar often talks about “punching above our weight” and being “politely pushy.” What do those mean to you?

Brent: “Punching above our weight” means we consistently go head-to-head with much larger agencies and win. Whether it’s landing accounts, placing coverage or earning awards, we outperform agencies that, on paper, should beat us. As for “politely pushy,” it’s about not waiting around. We move fast, we’re proactive and we advocate hard for our clients and for great work. But we always do it respectfully.

Stacey: It’s a mindset. We push because we care. We punch above our weight because we’re smart and strategic.

What would you say to someone considering Bospar—whether as a client or a future hire?

Stacey: Do it. Our repeat clients and boomerang employees say it all. We’re award-winning, but never complacent. We’re always stretching toward the next big thing. And we genuinely care about the work, about the results and about the people behind it all.

Brent: If you’re looking to grow, work hard and learn from sharp, supportive people, Bospar is the place. And the range of industries you’ll get to touch, especially in tech, is second to none.
