SAN FRANCISCO – Feb. 24, 2025 – Bospar, the “politely pushy” tech PR and marketing firm, proudly announces that Curtis Sparrer, principal and co-founder of the award-winning agency, has joined the board of The Society of Professional Journalists, Northern California (SPJ NorCal).
SPJ NorCal supports journalists across the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and surrounding communities, advocating for both full-time staff and freelancers. The organization hosts conferences, workshops and networking events to foster professional growth and development in the industry.
“We are eager to bring Curtis Sparrer onto the SPJ NorCal board thanks to his proven ability to bridge the business and media communities – especially after he resurrected the San Francisco Press Club,” said Joe Fitzgerald Rodriguez, board president. ”His perspective and experience are invaluable to our mission to educate, defend and uplift local journalists.”
With over 25 years of media and PR experience, Sparrer is a respected industry leader and president of the San Francisco Press Club. He collaborates daily with clients and the media to educate the public and investors on key business, cultural and technology trends. A prolific writer, he has contributed to Entrepreneur, Forbes, PRWeek and O’Dwyer’s and has spoken for Meltwater, the Bulldog Reporter and Ohlone College. Dedicated to advocacy, Sparrer is a lifetime member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association and a member of StartOut, an LGBTQ entrepreneurial organization.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to join the SPJ NorCal board while continuing my role as president with the SF Press Club,” said Sparrer. “I look forward to learning from this community and finding new ways to support journalists and press freedom across more regions at this critical time.”
