Bospar To J.K. Rowling: Petrificus Totalus!

Bospar uses spell and survey to temporarily freeze author after transphobic posts

SAN FRANCISCO – June 15, 2020 – Bospar, the boutique PR firm that puts tech companies on the map, released its first study for LGBTQIA Pride in response to J.K. Rowling’s anti-trans comments and Twitter commentary.

“J.K. Rowling – Petrificus Totalus,” said Bospar Principal Curtis Sparrer, invoking Rowling’s Harry Potter spell that temporarily freezes its subjects. “We are hoping the author stops maligning the transgender community with her wrong-headed words and ideas and takes the time to talk to transgender men and women to truly understand them. We hope she will reflect and change her thinking accordingly.” He added that an overwhelming number of those in the United States are supportive of transgender individuals.

According to Bospar’s research from June 10 and June 12 of over 1,000 Americans:

“I am happy to see that such a large percentage of those in the United States believe trans people should be equal to non-trans people and don’t care about their coworkers’ gender expression,” said Julian Sanjivan, Co-President of InterPride. Sanjivan, who uses the pronoun they, cautioned that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to ensure that transgender individuals are treated truly equally. “The alarming number of deaths, especially among transgender women of color, is an example of just how much more work there is to be done,” they added.

On Friday, June 12, 2020, the Trump administration today finalized a rule that would remove nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people when it comes to healthcare and health insurance. But according to Bospar’s research, overwhelming majorities of both Democrats (88.5%) and Republicans (67.3%) believe trans people should be equal to non-trans people. In fact, majorities of Democrats (83.2%) and Republicans (73.5%) say they don’t care about their coworkers’ gender expression.

“These results show that the American public is not behind rolling back rights for the transgender community, as we are seeing right now from the Trump administration during Pride Month,” said Bospar principal Tom Carpenter. “Just this week we saw health protections reversed, and it’s clear this will not be the last fight to face. It’s nice to see the American public is on the right side of history.”
