Purpose of Role

The Social Media Account Executive works collaboratively with the social media team and PR account teams to provide client service and keep team operations moving forward on client program objectives. The SMAE exhibits significant skills in social media, digital engagement, and writing/content development. The SMAE also demonstrates an aptitude for managing projects, including maintaining high client and agency information confidentiality. The SMAE understands the digital landscape, the agency portfolio of clients, social media for public relations, and the agency’s service offerings. The SMAE has supervised interaction with clients.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Account management:
  • Draft, edit, and publish content (original text, images, video) that builds connections and encourages community members to take action
  • Support the creation and management of both paid and organic social campaigns
  • Align with client leads on strategy and execution of plans
  • Develop and maintain content calendars highlighting upcoming opportunities
  • Prepare client call agendas
  • Capture notes during client calls and internal meetings
  • Prepare and send internal and client-facing action items following calls
  • Maintain accurate billables reporting
  • Influencers, Social Listening, and Monitoring:
  • Assist with influencer list development and maintenance
  • Prepare client-facing briefing notes to support analytics and social media highlights gained through social listening
  • Monitor client channels daily and communicate with teams on posts that need attention and provide recommendations on responses
  • Build and monitor listening reports set to specific topics or companies
  • Analytics and Reporting
  • Monitor and record client social media metrics weekly and monthly
  • Monitor the client’s social media accounts and offer constructive interaction with users
  • Develop monthly reports on emerging social media trends that will be submitted to the management and executive teams
  • Analyze the long-term needs of the client’s social media strategy and offer quarterly reports to the management and executive teams that outline any necessary changes to the social media plan
  • Team and Client Relations:
  • Manage a portfolio of 5-7 clients, keeping each organized and progressing forward
  • Respond to client requests in a thoughtful, timely manner
  • Project a positive attitude and be detail- and client-oriented with good multitasking and organizational abilities, as well as a creative approach to content
  • Business Development:
  • Capture notes during proposals
  • Present slides as appropriate

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in social media management tools, such as Sprinklr, Later, Hootsuite, and SproutSocial
  • Comfortable with content creation apps and software, such as Canva, CapCut, InShot, and native platform creator suites
  • Experience working within project management platforms, such as Asana, Google Workspace, and Monday.com
  • Knowledge of in-platform advertising, as well as both paid and earned social syndication strategies

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in PR, marketing, social media, etc., preferably in an agency setting
  • Familiarity with all social platforms and a strong understanding of channel best practices
  • Experience writing social copy for corporate channels
  • Experience with paid advertising on social media
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field
  • Experience with, or strong interest in, B2B and/or B2C technology
  • Knowledge of social media software and tools, including SproutSocial, Google Analytics, Canva, and more
  • Understanding of social media metrics and analysis
  • Solid grasp of social media trends, news, and tools
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Ability to work independently and with teams
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines

Salary starts at $60,000
